The insiders’ word on ‘Kuselan’ is out. And as expected the Superstar ROCKS!!!
Kavithalaya, Seven Arts and Pyramid Saimira deliver a clean, hilarious family entertainer to the audience with ‘Kuselan’! Director P.Vasu is most certain to pull off a phenomenal hit with the superstar after ‘Chandramukhi’. The movie has all the elements for Rajini fans as well as the family audience.

Rajinikanth makes a “MEGA” entry in the 16th minute of the movie and is present throughout the entire film from thereon. So that mutes the point of Rajini making just a “guest appearance”. Moreover, the first 16 minutes are a prelude to the Superstar’s introduction. Sources who have watched the first screening say the intro is sure to set Rajini fans screaming and whistling.
Another highlight of the movie will be Vadivelu’s comedy. The comedian is sure to tickle your funny bone. While Nayantra dazzles with the Superstar on screen, Pasupathy does a performance backed role. All songs have been canned with great extravaganza as you would expect from any Rajini starrer. “Om Zaarare” is already topping the Tamil charts world over.
The story of the film is about how two childhood friends go their separate ways and one becomes a Superstar and the other a barber. How friendship brings back the two together forms the crux of the story.
The verdict is, if you had a friend and valued that friendship, ‘Kuselan’ will sure touch your heart and bring back those wonderful memories.
There is another interesting aspect to the movie. Rajinikanth has been very personal with some dialogues in the film. He talks about his stardom like how he would to a real friend. There is a scene in the movie where Pasupathy quizzes him on his frequent visit to the Himalayas .

Dhanush celebrates birthday today!!

 Actor Dhanush celebrates his birthday on the 28th of July (today). The actor however is in Hyderabad shooting for the film ‘Padikathavan’. In view of this, the actor’s fans had an advanced birthday celebration at a Kalyana Mandapam in Saligramam recently. On that occasion certain fans wanted to christen him with the title ‘Ilaya Superstar’ with obvious reference to him being superstar Rajinikanth’s son-in-law. Dhanush however refused to accept the title saying he does not deserve it. This refusal did not stop his fans from celebrating big time. After ‘Padikathavan’ Dhanush would be back with the ‘Polladhavan’ team for a new film which is yet to be named. Shriya will be the leading lady of the film and director Vetri Maaran supposedly has impressed Dhanush with a wonderful story. Indiaglitz wishes Dhanush a very happy birthday!!!! |
‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’ 100 days and going…

 Director ‘Jayam’ Raja’s ‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’ has proved to be very successful crossing the 100-day mark comfortably. ‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’ stars ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Genelia D’Souza in lead roles. The movie has been designed as a sweet candy-floss entertainer highlighting the innocence of the female lead in an exhubarant fashion. The overt attention a loving father showers on his son, grows to irritating proportions forcing the now grown-up son to seriously ‘think’ about his life.. Without even a semblance of a choice in sight, the son accepts a marriage alliance for him meted out by his father. Life takes a huge turn when he meets a sweet girl and falls head over heels in love. He realizes that the girl lives life on her own terms and relishes the ‘freedom’ of her life. This propts our hero too to start living life on his own terms. The ensing father-son clashes make up the rest of the film. Prakash Raj as the loving father excels. The movie opened in a big way with multitudes of youngsters thronging to theaters enjoying every moment of the film. ‘Jayam’ Ravi’s performance has been commendable but the icing on the cake is Genelia’s performance. The role seemed tailor-made for the young actress. ‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’ has proved that good stories when presented well go on to make it big at the box office. |
Rajinikant helps Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan got shocked when he heard that Superstar Rajnikant’s Tamil film ‘Kuselan’ has been wrapped up and will be releasing in August. Rajnikant’s previous film ‘Sivaji’ although was a Tamil film managed to get unexpected attention of people from all over So the producers of ‘Kuselan’ had planned to release the Hindi dubbed version at the same time when the movie hits the cinema halls in south.
‘Kuselan’ is the remake of the Malyalam hit film ‘Katha Parayumbol’ so is King Khan’s forthcoming film ‘Billoo Barber’. Sharukh wanted to finish off the work of his film fast and get it released as a Diwali movie. And he was also confident of getting his film first to the theaters. Upon hearing that the Hindi version of ‘Kuselan’ will be reaching the theaters much before his film will get exposed, SRK panicked as if this happens the box office prospect of ‘Billoo Barber’ will get severely damaged due to having the same theme and story. Adding more intensity to his tension was that in both the films, the lead actors appear in 20 different looks in a single song. SRK had no other option than to make a call to the South Superstar and request him to change the north Indian release date of ‘Kuselan’. Rajnikant considered Sharukh’s request and assured him that his film will get to the halls only after Diwali. |
Censoring nudity forces name change

 Velu Prabhakaran is well known for making the movies ‘Kadavul’, ‘Nalaya Manithan’, ‘Azuran’ and ‘Puratchikkaaran’. He recently ventured to make a movie titled ‘Kaadhal Arangam’ starring debutantes. The director had shot many scenes involving nudity and the movie was expected to be a treatise on sex, violence and broken hearts. As soon as the movie was sent over to the Censor Board, the entire nude scenes were removed. This forced the director to approach the Revising Committee of the Censor Board. This move did not help the director in any way as they issued a statement voicing their concerns over the nude scenes terming them as titillating. With no way out, Velu Prabhakaran has removed the nude scenes and re-shot other sequences to fill in the void. He has also changed the title of the film to ‘Kaadhal Pakkangal’. Would the Censor Board be happy with these developments? Let’s wait and see. |
Newly wed Gopika’s thanksgiving prayer at…

Actress Gopika who got married to an Ireland based medical practitioner Ajilesh recently was at Velankanni church with her husband to give thanks to God. Gopika had already announced that she’ll be visiting the church for a thanksgiving prayer for giving her a good husband. Thousands of fans came over to have a glimpse of her. After the prayer service, she had to be escorted by police personnel to her car. |
‘Raman Thediya Seethai’ audio launch on July 30

 Vidyasagar’s music album for the film ‘Raman Thediya Seethai’ is all set to be launched on July 30. The film stars Cheran as the protagonist and is about his search for a suitable bride. The film is directed by K. P. Jagannathan who had made the Vijay starrer ‘Puthiya Geethai’ and the critically acclaimed film ‘Kodambakkam’. The film also stars Vimala Raman, Ramya Nambeesan and Karthiga. Pasupathy plays a Radio Jockey and Nithin Sathya features as an auto driver. These two characters are instrumental in helping out with the search for the protagonist. Cinematography is by Rajesh Yadav and the film is produced by K. Ramesh for Moser Baer and Global One Studio Productions. |
Genelia may be banned

Actress Genelia D’Souza might face a possible ban from the Tamilnadu Artistes’ Association for not becoming a member of the association even after five years as an actress. Genelia started out featuring in an ad for the product Fair and Lovely. Impressed with her performance in the commercial, director Shankar cast her in ‘Boys’ and then the floodgates opened for her. She then starred in many Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Genelia paired with Vijay in the film ‘Sachin’ and then tasted sweet success playing a naïve and yet sweet girl in ‘Santhosh Subramanaiam’. The Tamilnadu Artistes’ Association had in fact informed her to become a member many times but failed to receive any communication from her. An official letter has now been sent to her underscoring the point of a possible ban. Many of the actors who featured in ‘Chennai 600028′ have also been dispatched letters as they too have not yet become members of the association. Interestingly, actresses Nayantara, Trisha and Priyamani became members very recently after pressure for the association. |
Its motor racing after cricket for Lekha

 Actress-cum-VJ Lekha Washington was at the race track in Coimbatore last week where the National Road Racing Championship was held. Interestingly she was a major anchor for a television channel that was covering the race. Lekha is eagerly awaiting the release of her maiden Tamil film ‘Jeyamkondaan’ where she would be featuring along with Bhavana and Vinay. She was one among the TV anchors for the inaugural edition of the IPL cricket tournament where she interviewed several prominent cricketers during the tourney. Says Lekha, ‘ I am great lover of sports. Cricket and Formula One are my favorites. It is nice to anchor the motor racing championship as the cars vroom past you in great speed providing as adrenaline-rush show’. |
