Innumerable music albums praising the lord Ayyappa who resides in Sabarimala in Kerala has been made over the years. But when the living legend of music Illayaraja makes a devotional album, just like his heart touching film music it will be indeed a work which will set a new benchmark of standard for others to follow. Remember K T Kunjumon. He was the sought-after producer in Tamil until a few years ago. Having introduced director Shankar in Gentleman, Kunjumon holds the record for producing several big budgeted movies one-after-another. Suryan, Gentleman, Kadhalan, Ratchagan and Sakthi were produced by Kunjumon. After a big gap, Kunjumon is back in Tamil cinema to produce movies. He would be churning out a movie to be directed by Balaji. Noted Malayalam heroine Meera Nandhan will be playing the female lead. Maa is an emotional tale: Sabapathy
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008Director Sabapathy has commenced shooting for Maa with all optimism. The director has managed to bring together Bhoomika Chawla, Prithviraj and Srikanth in lead roles.
A happy Sabapathy says, ‘ Maa is an emotional tale. We believe in the concept of ‘athma’ (life after death). I firmly believe that even after a person’s death, his life, the love relationship he/she shared will stay forever. Maa is about a mother and her little daughter and the love they share. Bhoomika plays the mother and Prithviraj plays her friend. Srikanth is cast as her ex lover.
On choosing Bhoomika, Sabapathy says, when I conceived the storyline, I decided Bhoomika is my choice. Her eyes are expressive and powerful. Prithviraj listened to the story and decided to do the project immediately. Srikanth is my good friend.
Yuvan Shankar Raja will score music for my film. Music had always played prominent roles in my films. Bharathan, VIP, Punnagai Poovae have become big hits.

Lyricist-turned-actor Pa Vijay is confident that Thai Kaviyam, his maiden venture as hero would hit the screens this Pongal. The movie is based on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s story titled Thai Kaviyam. Pa Vijay says, We have completed a major portion of the shooting. Thanks to the guidance of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the story and screenplay has come good. We have concentrated a lot on song. Vidyasagar has given his best. Vijay vouches that he has given his best on screen. I have tried to be very realistic on screen. I have given spontaneous reactions and it has come good so far. Thankfully I am able to continue with hassles both acting and penning lyrics, he says with glee. |

Director Sasi is busy giving his best to shape up Poo. The movie starring Srikanth and Malluwood girl Parvathy, produced by Moserbaer, is fast nearing completion. In a quick chat, Sasi, who left his indelible mark in Tamil cinema with movies like Rojakootam, Sollamale and Dishoom, says, ‘Poo is inspired by writer Subha Tamilselvan’s Veyyilodu Poi. It captures the heart and soul of the rustic life in a rural village in Rajapalayam. Poo will bring the feeling of reading the novel’. On his star cast, Sasi says, ‘I share a good rapport with Srikanth since his Rojakootam days. I still wonder what is preventing the actor from making it big on cinema. Parvathi has a great passion for cinema. Her dedication to excel in the role was amazing’. On a big gap after Dishoom, Sasi says, ‘I am slow to start with. ‘Sakkarakatti’ sweeps a clean U certificate

‘Sakkarakatti’ with its post production work complete, made it to the censor board for certification. The movie starring Shanthanu opposite Vedhika and Ishita is set to hit the silver screen on Friday, 26th September. The movie acclaimed laurels for its brilliant musical composition done by AR Rahman. Being directed by producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu’s son, Kala Prabhu the movie has generated expectation because of its producer, whose earlier records holds a series of blockbusters. The flick holds some awesome theme music composed by the songster which will be a treat for die hard Rahman fans as preened by the director. Nearing the date of release, the movie was screened for the committee members of the censor board recently. A clean ‘U’ certificate was issued to the movie without any deletion of footage. ‘Marma Yogi’ is garnering every bit of attention ever since it was announced and the latest news is that the film will start shooting in October in Mumbai. The film will be directed by Kamal Haasan and stars Trisha, Shriya, Hema Malini and Venkatesh apart from the versatile actor himself. The film is to be made in Tamil, English, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. ‘Dasavatharam’ opened across many theaters with mixed reviews but then has made it quite majestically to hundred days. Adding to this majestic appeal is the way ‘Marma Yogi’ is being planned. Reports indicate that the Red Camera will be used and a Hollywood cinematographer has been roped in. Kamal Haasan and make-up are becoming synonymous these days and one can expect a flamboyant approach with this period film as well. A team of make-up specialists from Hollywood will be part of the team. A new technique called ‘Spray Make-up’ is being introduced to Indian Cinema with this film. An extravagant Project Launch for the film is expected to take place in Mumbai after which shooting will commence. The team would fly to many parts of the world including Sweden and of course many parts in India. Set in the 7th century AD, ‘Marma Yogi’ is expected to showcase a slice of life as it happened then including the diction and social themes. Kamal Haasan is known to be quite a perfectionist and with his experience, one can expect a stunning affair. Another huge factor that has to be spot on for ‘Marma Yogi’ is the costumes part.
