Sneha is shocked by the news (rumour?) saying that she is producing a film. It is also said that the film would have children’s subject. According to her close circles, she is quite upset to hear the ‘news’.

Sneha is investing her earnings in real estate and she is not intended to invest in films, say the sources close to the actor. She has recently built a marriage hall in Panrutti and she would be willing to build more marriage halls in the future. Her friends categorically say that she has never wanted to make films.

The dusky beauty is busy with her acting commitment and seems to be content with that.

The erstwhile hero Suman, who made his comeback in to Tamil films with ‘Sivaji’ as a villain is getting more offers to act as villain. The handsome star, who fought with the Superstar in ‘Sivaji’, will now battle with Ajith in his forthcoming movie ‘Aegan’.

Suman got the chance to act in ‘Sivaji’ after Prakashraj refused to act as a villain in the mega movie produced by AVM and directed by Shankar. The director then approached Suman and the rest is history.

Suman’s handling of the character won him lot of accolades and he started getting calls from many filmmakers to act as villain in their films. The actor, however, was determined to act only with the big heroes and hence refused many offers that came his way.

Finally he has got the offer he was waiting for. Raju Sundaram, director of ‘Aegan’, approached him to don the role of the villain in the film. Suman, who gleefully accepted the offer, is now preparing to clash with Ultimate Star.

More recently, the crew has been shooting in Salem and Chennai. Only the last bit of shooting is still left at Ambasamuthiram, What is unusual about the way Kuruvi is being completed is that even before shooting has been wrapped up, post production work has begun.

Both processes are taking place simultaneously.

Get ready to have Shriya rolling you in the aisles with laughter – that is what the star feels she is confident of doing with her Hollywood debut, The Other End of the Line. Shriya’s career has skyrocketed with offers pouring in from all the other woods –from Bollywood to Hollywood. Her next Kollywood movie, Kanthaswamy with Vikram is eagerly awaited, as are the roles she will do for internationally acclaimed filmmakers, Deepa Mehta and Meera Nair.

Talking of her role in The Other End of the Line, Shriya said it was a romantic comedy set in Mumbai and San Francisco. She plays a call centre employee who falls in love with an American on the phone. The American, thinking she lives in the States, asks to meet her. What is she to do? Confess to him that she lives in Mumbai or fly to Frisco to meet him and continue the deception? Shriya went on to say that her fans have so far seen her dance and cry and do romantic roles but this will be the first time they’ll see Shriya the comedian! Apparently, a lot of the places that are meant to be Frisco were actually shot in Mumbai itself. The movie will probably release around June or July.

Kanthaswamy in trouble

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

1_426.jpg

When author and screenwriter Sujatha passed away, everyone wondered what would happen to Robot and other projects that he may have been involved in. But, curiously, the same has not happened with Raghuvaran’s passing away. People have not been talking about the films he had a part in. The most affected seems to be Susi Ganesan’s Kanthaswamy. Raghuvaran plays Shreya’s father here, and apparently the director wrote that role with this sophisticated actor in mind.

What a genuine loss, indeed. Because no one else in Kollywood can take his place. This puts the film in a bit of a fix – sources say that much of Raghuvaran’s part in the film has been canned, but there was just a few scenes that this character actor had to complete. Luckily for Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Raghuvaran’s role had been totally competed. Other than Kanthaswamy, there is Adada Enna Azhagu, which also featured Raghuvaran, but did not complete his shooting schedule. Will – or can – a new Raghuvaran emerge in Kollywood?

Rajini’s Kuselan shifted

Rajini is an enigma, no doubt. And when the actor makes a mere appearance in public he is swarmed by fans. This is one reason why most directors avoid canning his shots within the boundaries of Tamil Nadu.

But P. Vasu intends to change all that. Presently shooting at a location in  Hyderabad, he has decided to shift the location to Pollachi near Coimbatore. The Kuselan team is already scouting the area for good scenic beauties. The other stars that would take part in the shooting are Nayanthara, Vadivelu and Pasupathy.

Meera Jasmine disappointed

Friday, March 21st, 2008

2_325.jpg

After giving successive hits with Kaazcha, Tanmathra and Palunku, Malayalam film director Blessy was expected to repeat his success streak with Calcutta News too. The film had dealt with the life of a television program producer and a reporter and events that take place in his life in one year’s span. Dileep and Meera Jasmine played the lead roles and the film had created expectations in the industry.

But unfortunately, Calcutta News had met with lukewarm response which was disappointing both to the director and heroine. Meera Jasmine had pinned her hopes on this film but its result has left the actor in a very somber mood and she is reported to have not signed any offers that had come her way in the wake of the failure of the film.
