Mysskin seeks Illayaraja’s forgiveness

Director Mysskin who is coming up with ‘Nandhalala’ was particular to have maestro Illayaraja’s music for the film especially because the film is expected to have tremendous emotions in it. It is reported that Mysskin wanted the maestro to come up with five songs.

The music was composed and as time went by, Mysskin was engrossed with filming and decided to use just two songs. Director Mysskin said at the ‘Nandhalala’ Audio launch function recently that he was pained to use just two of the songs as that was what the film demanded.

‘I went to Illayaraja to tell him about it. The maestro was pained to hear about it and said if I was indirectly saying the songs were not good. I fell at his feet and told him that I was not even familiar with my mother’s lullabies and that Illayaraja’s music has been everything to me. I grew up on your music sir’.

The director also added that Illayaraja wanted to add some musical expressions to the film and the final output is simply stunning.

However, all five songs feature in the music album of ‘Nandhalala’.

Innumerable music albums praising the lord Ayyappa who resides in Sabarimala in Kerala has been made over the years.

But when the living legend of music Illayaraja makes a devotional album, just like his heart touching film music it will be indeed a work which will set a new benchmark of standard for others to follow.

For the first time the music maestro has brought out a devotional album dedicated to Swami Ayyappa also known as Manikantan.

The album has eight songs created with great care and devotion.

The album will be available in all the four South Indian languages.

For the Tamil version Illayaraja has given his voice for six songs.

For Telugu and Kannada, S.P.Balasubramanyam has given life to 6 songs.

In Malayalam, Vijay Yesudas and Madhu Balakrishnan has sung 6 songs

In all the four languages, Shankaran Namoodiri has sung one song while a male group has given voice for a chorus song.

Leading lyric writers of all the four states have associated with the music director for bringing out this music album.

For Tamil, Vaali did the duties. K.Kalyan wrote the words for Kannada. Vennela Kanti wrote the Telugu lyrics while Anil Kumar created the Malayalam lyrics.

Welcome back K T Kunjumon

Remember K T Kunjumon. He was the sought-after producer in Tamil until a few years ago.

Having introduced director Shankar in Gentleman, Kunjumon holds the record for producing several big budgeted movies one-after-another. Suryan, Gentleman, Kadhalan, Ratchagan and Sakthi were produced by Kunjumon.

After a big gap, Kunjumon is back in Tamil cinema to produce movies. He would be churning out a movie to be directed by Balaji.

Noted Malayalam heroine Meera Nandhan will be playing the female lead. A newcomer from Mumbai will be playing the second heroine in the film.

Director Sabapathy has commenced shooting for Maa with all optimism. The director has managed to bring together Bhoomika Chawla, Prithviraj and Srikanth in lead roles.

A happy Sabapathy says, ‘ Maa is an emotional tale. We believe in the concept of ‘athma’ (life after death). I firmly believe that even after a person’s death, his life, the love relationship he/she shared will stay forever. Maa is about a mother and her little daughter and the love they share. Bhoomika plays the mother and Prithviraj plays her friend. Srikanth is cast as her ex lover.

On choosing Bhoomika, Sabapathy says, when I conceived the storyline, I decided Bhoomika is my choice. Her eyes are expressive and powerful. Prithviraj listened to the story and decided to do the project immediately. Srikanth is my good friend.

Yuvan Shankar Raja will score music for my film. Music had always played prominent roles in my films. Bharathan, VIP, Punnagai Poovae have become big hits.

Lyricist-turned-actor Pa Vijay is confident that Thai Kaviyam, his maiden venture as hero would hit the screens this Pongal.

The movie is based on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s story titled Thai Kaviyam.

Pa Vijay says, We have completed a major portion of the shooting. Thanks to the guidance of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the story and screenplay has come good. We have concentrated a lot on song. Vidyasagar has given his best.

Vijay vouches that he has given his best on screen. I have tried to be very realistic on screen. I have given spontaneous reactions and it has come good so far. Thankfully I am able to continue with hassles both acting and penning lyrics, he says with glee.

Choreographer director Ragava Larence is a happy man post the success of Pandi. He is all set to commence shooting for director Sakthi Chidambaram’s Rajathi Raja.

Interestingly the movie features five heroines which include Snightha. The cute actress started her career appearing for an item number in Anjathey, directed by Mysskin. The movie’s success and the popularity of the song have taken her to greater heights now. She has bagged the plump role in Mysskin’s Nandhalala, while she has been assigned to act opposite for another movie.

Besides Rajathi Raja, the two would act in a movie to be produced by Super Good Films R B Choudhary. The movie would go to floors very soon.

Snightha is happy and raring to go. She is confident that she would make it big and establish for herself in the industry.

Tamil cinema is known for its innovative publicity and novel methods to reach out to the masses. They generally come out with huge and colorful invitations and grand muhurrat are being organized to kick off the movie to garner the attention of the industry men and the audience.

The latest is the various novel methods adopted by the Saroja crew. The movie directed by Venkat Prabhu, has made it big at the box office. Interestingly they publicized the movie in a grand way using very possible option.

Saroja was advertised at the back of Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus tickets. Vishal starrer Sathyam was publicized in a grand manner by erecting special advertisements on bus and catchy colorful billboards were erected.

Going a step ahead, actor Silambarasan has gone the hi-tech way for promotion of his forthcoming film Silambattam. The movie which is under production is directed by cinematographer Saravanan.

Silambarasan had posted three songs from the movie in his personal profile at his Face book, a community website. His fans can listen to the songs by downloading from the website. Interestingly the audio of the movie would be released only during the first week of the October.

Director Sasi is busy giving his best to shape up Poo. The movie starring Srikanth and Malluwood girl Parvathy, produced by Moserbaer, is fast nearing completion.

In a quick chat, Sasi, who left his indelible mark in Tamil cinema with movies like Rojakootam, Sollamale and Dishoom, says, ‘Poo is inspired by writer Subha Tamilselvan’s Veyyilodu Poi. It captures the heart and soul of the rustic life in a rural village in Rajapalayam. Poo will bring the feeling of reading the novel’.

On his star cast, Sasi says, ‘I share a good rapport with Srikanth since his Rojakootam days. I still wonder what is preventing the actor from making it big on cinema. Parvathi has a great passion for cinema. Her dedication to excel in the role was amazing’.

On a big gap after Dishoom, Sasi says, ‘I am slow to start with. Once I conceive a storyline, I start to work with utmost sincerity. Close on the heels of completing Poo, I would start a movie which would be a commercial entertainer loaded with action all through’.

‘Sakkarakatti’ sweeps a clean U certificate

‘Sakkarakatti’ with its post production work complete, made it to the censor board for certification. The movie starring Shanthanu opposite Vedhika and Ishita is set to hit the silver screen on Friday, 26th September.

The movie acclaimed laurels for its brilliant musical composition done by AR Rahman. Being directed by producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu’s son, Kala Prabhu the movie has generated expectation because of its producer, whose earlier records holds a series of blockbusters.

The flick holds some awesome theme music composed by the songster which will be a treat for die hard Rahman fans as preened by the director.

Nearing the date of release, the movie was screened for the committee members of the censor board recently. A clean ‘U’ certificate was issued to the movie without any deletion of footage. The cast & crew are elated by this and are eagerly awaiting the release of the movie shortly.

Pyramid Saimira has now decided to shut down its operations in Northern and Western Indian in view of its operational expenses. Presently the margin in the entertainment industry is not so lucrative in view of the high inflation, respite of demand for entertainment and food products.

Pyramid Saimira has already closed down 33 screens in western and northern India. But this does not hamper their operations in China, Malaysia and US. Apart from this, Pyramid have operationalised their USA acquisition, acquired Dimples Cine Advertising, India’s largest cine advertising company and recently added Aurona Technologies to the group, to score their incursion into the gaming sphere.

They are now consolidating distribution and production segments, which will lend solidity and propel their margins, going forward. Pyramid Saimira’s focus on food and beverage segment has already started yielding dividends. In India Pyramid Saimira will totally focus on South Indian media and entertainment sectors.
